A DIY market stall: when decor meets play
Share
When my niece included a cash register in her letter to the Three Wise Men, I immediately saw an opportunity to create something unique for her. How could she collect payment for her purchases without a market stall? That's when I had the idea... I wanted to offer her a truly decorative object that would blend seamlessly into her room while inviting her to play for hours. So I opted for a DIY project that would transform some simple objects into a genuine little mobile shop.
A project that unites aesthetics and functionality
This is where my approach to children's decor truly comes into its own. I firmly believe that an object designed for children can be beautiful, carefully crafted, and harmonize with the rest of the house. There's no need to choose between decor and play!
For this project, I assembled three wooden boxes with an MDF board I found among the scraps of a DIY store. The structure was there, solid and full of potential.
Colors that tell a story
The choice of colors is never accidental in my creations. I got out my cans of green and pink paint, two shades that bring joy without being overwhelming. The stall was transformed into a true decorative piece, something to be proud of in your home.
The details that make the difference
I added some small, transparent wheels so my niece can move her station around completely independently. This mobility changes everything: the game adapts to the space, to her mood at the time.
Result: a mobile stall that children can move as they please, transforming the living room into a market square or the terrace into a farmers market.
I added some little baskets to keep everything perfectly organized, and that's it! A play space that encourages imagination, mental math (yes, you count the change!) and interaction.
And what about the future?
This project has reaffirmed my vision: to create meaningful decorative objects for children that last and truly beautify their spaces. If you're interested in these kinds of creations, stay tuned... other projects like this may be coming soon!
My niece's smile when she discovered her job? Priceless. And that's exactly why I do what I do.
